Berat lies about 120 km south of Tirana, and the road connection is straightforward. Most travellers choose between three options: a regular intercity bus, a rental car, or a pre-arranged private transfer.

By Bus

Intercity buses run regularly between Tirana and Berat, departing from Tirana's main bus terminals. The journey takes around two hours. Schedules and exact departure points change frequently, so confirm locally or with your accommodation before travelling.

By Car

Driving gives you the most flexibility and takes about two hours via the SH4 and connecting roads. The route is generally in good condition. Parking in Berat's old town can be tight, so check with your hotel in advance.

By Private Transfer

A private transfer is the most convenient option, especially if arriving from Tirana Airport or travelling with luggage. Many hotels and tour operators can arrange a pick-up. This is also the best option for a comfortable day trip with a return the same evening.
